I’m Corrie – I am a food-junkie, travel addict, nature-loving, science nerd with a passion for helping people transform their lives and bodies. I blend my knowledge of hard science, natural systems, and real life experience to create programs that empower you to take control of your own health and have you feeling vibrant and radiant.
But first, here is a little bit about my healing journey…
Chicken wings, pizza, French fries, white bread, Kraft cheese slices, spaghetti, and Oreo cookies. Like many, I grew up with the standard North American diet so it won’t surprise you to learn that as a child and teenager I was sick – constant strep throat, tonsillitis, bronchitis, colds, flues, even pneumonia. My allergies and asthma were relentless. I would have diarrhea and constipation, sometimes both in the same day. I was barely 20, overweight and tired. Doctors offered no solutions. I didn’t know what to do. I was a mess.
Then one day at the public library I picked up a book on healthy eating. I can’t remember the name of it, but I made a decision that would change everything – I would follow the diet plan in the book for six weeks. Six weeks isn’t that long. They say it takes six weeks to change a habit. I could do six weeks.
Those six weeks forever transformed my life. The first couple of weeks I actually felt kinda horrible – headaches, aches, and pains. I realize now that my body was detoxing from a lifetime of junk food. I emerged after those six weeks with clearer skin, more energy, a few pounds lighter, and feeling vibrant.
I am proud to say that in the 20 years since that transformation I haven’t had a single round of antibiotics, my bathroom habits are super regular, I get a cold about once every five years, and I’ve virtually eliminated my allergies and asthma. Of course I am not perfect. I am still working on things like balancing my hormones. Good health is a lifelong journey after all, but I can definitely say that I am healthier now than I have ever been.
I was fortunate that the incredible power healthy eating was revealed to me at such a young age. Over the years that followed I would fine-tune my diet by adding in more colourful fruits and vegetables, incorporating fermented foods, finding hidden allergies, and including herbs and spices.
My own health journey is what led me to become a Certified Nutritional Practitioner. I want to help others on their journey to reach their true health potential. I help clients understand how to deeply nourish themselves, enjoy their food, and heal their body, mind, and spirit.
Professional Bio
I am a Certified Nutritional Practitioner who graduated from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. I also hold a Certificate in the Science & Art of Herbalism from Sage Mountain Herbal Centre. I am a fermented food expert who has studied with fermentation guru Sandor Katz. I have taken several advanced courses in digestion, herbalism, and hormonal health.
I have been a featured speaker at the Ontario Fermentation Festival, Nepean Master Gardener AGM, Ottawa-Public Libraries, and at the Agri150 “Walk on the Wild Side” presented by the City of Ottawa. I am also an instructor at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition where I teach Herbal Medicine, Nutrition & The Environment, Biochemistry, and Body Metabolism.
